People using mental health services in Telford are being encouraged to come forward to join a photography project which will create artwork for a new mental health hub at Hall Court in the town.
Artist Jamila Thomas will be working with service users and hopefully some staff to capture images around Telford. These will be used to enhance the environment for people attending appointments at the new centre which was recently opened by South Staffordshire and Shropshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (SSSFT).
Participants will have the opportunity to learn about photographic techniques and will be encouraged to take a lead on identifying locations to visit and photograph. These could be wide open spaces in and around Telford or Shropshire; or more urban areas in the new developments within Telford.
Jessica Kent, Arts for Health lead at SSSFT says “We are looking for more people to join our New Light project and help us to create a series of large photographs for the centre. Anyone in touch with mental health services can join, it’s free and we meet on Wednesday mornings at Hall Court Centre – close to the Odeon Cinema in Telford”.
