The Arts for Health team from South Staffordshire and Shropshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has been invited to provide a stimulating and vibrant display at this year’s Health Expo event in Manchester on 11-12 September.
Organised by NHS England, the event attracts leaders from the NHS, local government and public sector from across the country. Speakers at the event include Simon Stevens, Chief Executive of NHS England, and Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt MP, Secretary of State for Health.
SSSFT’s Arts for Health display will include information, arts activities and a stunning piece of wearable art.
Arts for Health Lead, Jessica Kent, says “We are very excited to be able to showcase some of the arts activities from our Trust. We have a diverse and thriving programme which includes photography, visual art, singing, dance, music and reading for wellbeing. Events and activities are enjoyed across the whole Trust and include service users, carers and staff at our inpatient units and in the community. We hope to make a real impression, particularly our arts for health costume which has been created by service users and inpatients in our art groups – using colour, fabric, paint, collage and text – to illustrate the wealth of arts for health work that takes place across the Trust. The costume will be worn by one of our artists!
The display will be on throughout the event and the team hope to attract a wide range of delegates to join in some of the activities and find out more about our local arts programmes.
